Pride is always on the line when the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames get together, but Saturday's meeting will break a deadlock between the two Alberta clubs.
Heading into the "Hockey Night in Canada" match-up, the two teams that make up the Battle of Alberta sport identical 24-17-5 records. It's something of an improbability given the up-and-down nature of both clubs' respective seasons thus far, yet on Saturday they'll face off with the exact same number of points.
Both Edmonton and Calgary are in the midst of winning streaks, so the intensity level could be ramped up to maximum given the importance of the game and how well each team is playing of late. The Oilers are in sixth in the West with the Flames right behind them in the standings, but Saturday's game would see the teams switch places if Calgary is able to extend its current win streak to five games.
