Joe Thornton isn't known for his fighting skills, but on Monday night the veteran San Jose Sharks center got to use his fists.
It didn't go well for the 38-year-old.
Thornton, who is a surefire Hall-of-Famer when he finally decides to hang his skates up, got into a rare fight in the third period of the Sharks' visit to the Washington Capitals on Monday. After delivering a game-ending hit on Capitals forward T.J. Oshie earlier in the contest, Thornton was convinced into dropping the gloves by Washington's Tom Wilson.
The Sharks legend landed a few soft punches before Wilson, who is nearly 15 years Thornton's junior, took control and delivered a solid right hook. The punch ended the fight seconds after it started, with both men skating away seemingly no worse for the wear.

To make matters worse for Thornton, his Sharks went on to lose the game 4-1.
