It may be Opening Day for MLB, but Sidney Crosby wasn't going to let the baseball players hog all the attention.
For the second time in a week, the Pittsburgh Penguins' superstar showed off his ridiculous hand-eye coordination in scoring a highlight-reel goal. On March 22, Crosby beat Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price from in close by batting the puck in mid-air, twice, and on Thursday he took it a step further when he knocked in the winning goal in overtime against the New Jersey Devils.
The 30-year-old collected the puck at the blue line and slowly made his way into the Devils' zone, having plenty of time to calculate his move on goaltender Keith Kinkaid. With players from both teams rushing back to join the play, Crosby unleashed a wrist shot that rang off the post and hung tantalizingly in the air.
With a sweet swing usually reserved for the ballpark, Crosby connected with the puck and swatted it past a frozen Kinkaid.
The goal was Crosby's fifth in the past five games, and it brought the Penguins to within five points of the Metropolitan-leading Washington Capitals.
