It may have been the season opener for the Minnesota Wild, but goaltender Devan Dubnyk showed no signs of rust when he denied Detroit Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist from what seemed to be a sure-fire goal on Thursday night.
Nyqvist carried the puck into the Minnesota zone with 13:49 left in the first period and gathered enough speed to blow by the last defenseman, leaving him one-on-one with Dubnyk. The Red Wings forward juked to his left, causing Dubnyk to sprawl onto his back and leave a gaping net to shoot at. But, somehow, the Wild's 31-year-old goalie was able to reach back with his glove hand to make the save.

Dubnyk's incredible stop kept the game scoreless, at least temporarily. The Red Wings got the puck past him twice in the second period, and went on to record a 4-2 win.
