Before Tuesday, Christian Fischer had never scored more than a one goal in a single NHL game.
That changed when Fischer led the Arizona Coyotes to a 4-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, with the 21-year-old registering three goals on the night.
The Blue Jackets had taken the lead through Pierre-Luc-Dubois just 31 seconds into the game, but Fischer pulled the Coyotes back on equal footing a few minutes later when he finished off a feed from Derek Stepan.
Dylan Strome then gave the Coyotes the lead midway through the first period before Fischer scored his second of the night in the middle frame, again off an assist from Stepan.
Fischer completed his hat trick in the third period with a well-placed shot from the slot, giving Arizona a three-goal lead and helping Stepan reach a trio of assists in the game.
