In September, the 33-year-old was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare autoimmune disorder. After spending time in intensive care in a Southern California hospital, Eaves has been sidelined while he recovers.

While Eaves has been away from the Honda Center, the Ducks have been collecting fan signatures and well-wishes to present to the Calgary-born player in support of his medical battle.

On Sunday, Eaves arrived at the arena to attend his first Ducks game of the season. His teammates, wearing replicas of his considerable beard, surprised him with the banners.

Eaves is a veteran of over 700 NHL regular season and playoff games.
