It's expected for an expansion team to go through several firsts in its inaugural season, and a pair of Vegas Golden Knights players added to the list with their first NHL goals on Sunday.
Alex Tuch and Vadim Shipachyov each scored their maiden goals in the league in the Golden Knights' 3-1 win over the Boston Bruins in the second period of Sunday's game, with Tuch also notching an assist on his teammate's tally.
Tuch was first up, with the 21-year-old forcing a turnover inside the Bruins' zone and unleashing a quick shot over Tuukka Rask at 14:38 of the second period.
Just over three minutes later, Tuch turned provider. He received the puck in front of the Bruins' net and tried to jam it by Rask, to no avail. Tuch corralled the rebound and spun to his left before slipping the puck over to an awaiting Shipachyov, with the 30-year-old NHL debutant making no mistake from in close to make it 2-0 for the Golden Knights.
Tuch and Shipachyov weren't the only Vegas players celebrating firsts on Sunday, however. Goaltender Malcolm Subban made 21 saves against the Bruins, the team that drafted him in 2012, to earn his first NHL victory.
With the win, the Golden Knights improved to 4-1.
