Is Tij Iginla related to Jarome Iginla?

Yes, Tij Iginla is Jarome Iginla's son. Tij was born on Aug. 1, 2006, when his father played for the Calgary Flames.

Jarome Iginla enjoyed a 20-year NHL career and was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2020. Tij will be hoping to follow in his father's footsteps as an impactful scorer and first-round pick.

When was Jarome Iginla drafted?

Jarome Iginla was selected 11th overall by the Dallas Stars in the first round of the 1995 NHL Draft. He was one of four All-Stars taken in the first round of that draft and remains the lone Hockey Hall of Famer to be selected within that draft's 234 picks.

The Stars traded Iginla's rights to the Flames just six months after they drafted him. Dallas did so to acquire Joe Nieuwendyk, another Hockey Hall of Famer, who was embroiled in a contract dispute with Calgary.

Iginla debuted for Calgary during the 1996 Stanley Cup Playoffs and played 16 seasons for the Flames before beginning a mini, Stanley Cup-seeking odyssey at the end of his career.
