Team USA World Juniors roster 2022: Full list of players, NHL prospects announced for the United States image

We are just a few days away from the 2022 World Juniors getting started and Team USA is set.

After a few weeks of selection camp and cuts, the 25-man roster for the United States has been selected and a majority of the names are the same as the ones repping the red, white and blue in December.

Three notable names will not be on the USA roster that were on the squad in December — forward Matty Beniers, defenseman Jake Sanderson and goaltender Drew Commesso.

Sanderson was the captain of the original 2022 team, but the defenseman is likely holding out ahead of the NHL season where he expects to compete for a spot on the Senators' roster. The same goes for Beniers, who was an assistant captain in December and is very likely going to be on the Kraken's NHL squad.

Commesso is arguably the biggest surprise, as the Blackhawks prospect was the clear-cut No. 1 goalie in December and would have been again in August. However, he elects not to participate, leaving the Americans light in net. He is slated to return to Boston University this fall for his junior year.

Here is a look at the Team USA roster for the 2022 World Juniors.

Team USA 2022 World Juniors roster

In total, eight players from the initial 2022 roster that played in December return for the August version of the tournament with eight new faces in the group.

In addition to the three mentioned above, other players that are either not returning or were not selected for the August grouping are forwards Tanner Dickinson, Chaz Lucius and Ty Smilanic, defenseman Scott Morrow and goaltender Dylan Silverstein.

The newcomers to the squad are forwards Thomas Bordeleau, Riley Duran, Hunter McKown, and Charlie Stramel, defensemen Sean Behrens and Jacob Truscott, and finally, goaltenders Remington Keopple and Andrew Oke.
