It took almost 11 months, but Steven Stamkos is back to scoring goals.
The Tampa Bay Lightning star tallied in the second-period of a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday to add to his goal total for the first time since Nov. 15, 2016. Stamkos received a pass from Vladislav Namestnikov and easily shot the puck into a wide-open net as the Lightning were on a power play, scoring Tampa Bay's third goal in a 5-4 victory.
The goal was also one for the record books, as it allowed Stamkos to move into a tie with Vincent Lacavalier for the franchise record (112) for power play goals.
A prolific scorer with 322 regular season goals to his name, Stamkos missed nearly 11 months recovering from a torn lateral meniscus in his right knee. The 27-year-old suffered the injury last November and returned to action for the Lightning on Oct. 6.
