At least one of the writers on "The Simpsons" must be a hockey fan.
In Sunday's episode of the long-running comedy series, the iconic TV family takes a vacation to Canada and make sure to make some hockey jokes while there.

Without revealing too much from the episode, Lisa Simpson is granted political asylum in Canada and is assigned a favorite hockey team à la Hogwarts Sorting Hat. To Lisa's misfortune, she is given a hat of the last-place Ottawa Senators.

The Senators finished the 2018-19 season with just 64 points in the standings and a 29-47-6 record. The team is at the very beginning of a complete rebuild so Lisa's disappointment is understandable.

The Simpsons seem to become big hockey fans in the episode, accumulating an interesting variety of NHL merchandise.
