Matt Duchene was held off the scoresheet in his debut with the Ottawa Senators Friday night, but his new team beat his former club as the Sens skated to a 4-3 overtime victory over the Colorado Avalanche at Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden.
Mark Stone scored the game-winner just 59 seconds into OT after the Senators let a third-period lead slip away. It was his second goal of the game, and team-high 11th on the season.
Erik Karlsson, the Swedish-born captain of the Senators, had two assists and Stockholm native Fredrik Claesson also scored for the Sens.
Gabriel Landeskog, the Swedish-born captain of Colorado, picked up an assist while rookie Alex Kerfoot had a goal and an assist to lead the Avs.
Duchene logged 16:44 worth of ice time in his first game since being traded from Colorado to Ottawa last Sunday. He was a minus one and recorded two shots on goal while attempting five shots total.
NHL GAME CENTER: Senators vs. Avalanche
The Senators are now 2-5 in seven overtime games this season, while the Avalanche are 1-1. Ottawa won for only the second time in its last five contests, while Colorado lost its second straight after a three-game winning streak.
The two teams will meet again Saturday in Stockholm as part of the NHL Global Series.

Matt Duchene not the only player debuting for his new club today. Defenseman Samuel Girard, who came to the Avalcnhe via the Nashville Predators as part of Sunday's blockbuster Duchene deal, is expected to debut alongside veteran Erik Johnson on the Avs blue line today.
The 19-year-old Girard had a goal and two assists in five games with the Preds this season.
A second-round pick in 2016, Girard will wear sweater No. 49 with the Avs.

The Ericsson Globe hosted its first NHL regular season game on Oct. 4, 2008. Tyler Kennedy scored late in overtime as the Penguins edged the Senators, 4-3.
All told, eight regular season NHL games have been contested in Stockholm at Ericsson Globe, most recently the Rangers losing a 2-1 shootout decision to the Ducks on Oct. 8, 2011, one night after the Rangers lost 3-2 in overtime to the Kings in the same building.
The Senators played two games in Stockholm back in 2008 -- splitting the pair against the Penguins --while this is the first-ever regular season appearance in Europe for the Avalanche.
