Sebastian Aho has put himself into the record books.

When the 21-year-old center assisted on Michael Ferland's power play goal near the end of the first period of the Carolina Hurricanes' 3-2 loss to the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, he extended his season-opening assist and point streak to 12 games.

The helper put Aho in rarified company as his streak tied him with Wayne Gretzky and Ken Linseman as the only players in league history to open a season with assists in 12 straight games. In addition, the 12-game season-opening point streak gives Aho the best such run in Hurricanes franchise history.

The 35th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, Aho's 17 points so far in the 2018-19 season is four behind league leader Mikko Rantanen of the Colorado Avalanche.
