Canadiens media members and team executives honored the late Red Fisher Saturday night, celebrating the life of Montreal's iconic longtime beat reporter.

Fisher, who covered Canadiens for 17 of their 24 Stanley Cups, died at 91-years-old on Friday.

Starting on the beat in 1955, Fisher established himself as a legend within sports media and was named a member of the Order of Canada " ... for his contributions to sports journalism, notably for his iconic coverage of the Montreal Canadiens hockey franchise."

Prior to puck drop, there was a shrine set up in the Bell Centre's press box in Fisher's seat No. 62, complete with game notes and a bottle of Chivas, Fisher's preferred drink. Media members also took part in a pregame toast to honor Fisher.

The Canadiens put together a tribute video and held a moment of silence for Fisher prior to the start of the game.

Fisher retired in 2012, after a storied career that included three National Newspaper Awards. He is survived by two children, Ian and Cheryl, and a grandson, Ryan.
