The Flames announced on Thursday that defenseman Rasmus Andersson is considered day-to-day after he was struck by a vehicle on Wednesday.

He was sent to the hospital for tests and was released later that night.

Here are the latest details on Andersson's injury and his timeline for a return.

What happened to Rasmus Andersson?

Andersson and the Flames were in Detroit on Wednesday night ahead of their Thursday game against the Red Wings.

According to Flames GM Brad Treliving, Andersson was riding a scooter on his way to dinner when he was struck by a vehicle while going through a crosswalk. He was transported by ambulance to the Detroit Receiving Hospital for tests and was released later in the evening.

"He's doing well," Treliving said. "In good spirits. We're lucky. Very lucky. It certainly could have been a lot worse. We want to make sure that we thank all those involved (in his care) and let everybody know that Ras is doing well."

Detroit Police said that the driver stopped at the scene and was not ticketed. Treliving stated that there was no alcohol involved in the incident.

How long is Rasmus Andersson out for?

Andersson is tabled as day-to-day for now and won't play on Thursday.

Treliving said that the team is not "overly concerned" about Andersson's health after the incident, but the team will take caution in the coming days.

"He won't play tonight and we'll take this real slow," Treliving said. "Not anything that we're overly concerned about. But he got hit, so we're going to see how things go over the next 24 hours and go from there."

Andersson is going to remain with the team on its road trip. In addition to the game in Detroit, Calgary travels to Buffalo and Ottawa for matchups against the Sabres and Senators.
