The Erik Brannstrom era is about to get underway in Ottawa.

Senators general manager Pierre Dorion told season seat holders that Brannstrom, 19, will be recalled from the AHL ahead of Ottawa's game against the St. Louis Blues at the Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday.

Brannstrom was acquired by the Senators as part of the trade that sent Mark Stone to the Vegas Golden Knights last month. On the day of the trade, Dorion said the Senators had never received a player in a trade as good as the Swedish teenager.

"We have never traded for a player of this calibre," Dorion told TSN Radio 1200. "And unfortunately Mark Stone didn't want to sign and we got an outstanding return here."

A defenceman who was selected 15th overall by the Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL draft, Brannstrom has 29 points in 46 AHL games this season.
