Connor McDavid continues to etch his name in the NHL record book.

Saturday night, the 2015 first overall pick recorded his 200th career assist, becoming the fifth-youngest player to hit that mark (21 years, 343 days).

The center reached the milestone in the first period against the Tampa Bay Lightning when he recorded the primary assist on Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' 12th goal of the season. The only players who were younger than McDavid when they reached 200 assists: Wayne Gretzky, Sidney Crosby, Mario Lemieux and Dale Hawerchuk.

McDavid joined that same foursome in reaching another milestone:

McDavid is also the ninth player in NHL history to reach 200 assists in fewer than 250 games; he recorded No. 200 in his 244th career game.

The 2017 Hart Trophy winner recorded assist No. 201 on Alex Chiasson's 16th of the season in the second period, which gave the Oilers a 2-1 lead. In the third period, he fed Leon Draisaitl on the power play for his third primary assist of the night.

In 35 games this season, McDavid has 19 goals and 33 assists.
