After losing Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals 5-2, the Carolina Hurricanes didn't muster a better effort in Game 2. On Sunday, Boston skated away with a 6-2 win and a 2-0 series lead.
Following the loss, Carolina's captain Justin Williams had a rather colorful way to describe what transpired.
"Sometimes you’ve got to eat a poop sandwich," he told reporters after the game. "It doesn’t taste good, and you have to chew on it for a little bit and we’ll have to do it for a couple of days. Get the taste out of our mouth next game."

Carolina has faced a 2-0 hole in the 2019 playoffs before. The Hurricanes trailed the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals in the first round before winning four of the next five games; however, those initial losses were a lot closer on the scoresheet.

One positive for the Hurricanes is that they were able to gain some momentum as they scored twice on Bruins netminder Tuukka Rask in the last nine minutes of the game — and momentum is everything in the playoffs.
The series now shifts to Carolina where the Hurricanes have won all five postseason games played in their own building.
