The Sabres left Scotiabank Saddledome as the winning team Monday for the first time since 2003, following a 2-1 overtime victory over the Flames.

Calgary suffered its second straight loss, after being cooled off by the Jets in a 2-1 shootout defeat Saturday that snapped their seven-game winning streak.

The game against Buffalo was another painstakingly close heartbreaker.

Just 24 seconds after Matthew Tkachuk got the Flames on the board in the first, Scott Wilson notched an unassisted goal to even the score.

After matching scoreless frames for the final two periods, Jack Eichel extended his point streak to six games with the overtime game-winner that beat Calgary goaltender Mike Smith just as the penalty box doors opened, marking the end of Buffalo's powerplay.

Despite the loss, Calgary protected its point streak, which now stands at nine games (7-0-2).

Between the pipes, both goalies put on lights out performances, with Chad Johnson totalling 32 saves for Buffalo and Smith following right behind with 31.

The Flames are back on their home ice again Tuesday to face the Kings, who just snapped their six-game losing streak on Sunday with a 4-2 win over the Rangers.
