The 2022-23 NHL regular season is set to start today, but the action does not begin in North America. Instead, the Predators and Sharks face off against one another as a part of the 2022 NHL Global Series to kick off the campaign.
The two Western Conference teams have traveled overseas to Europe, as the NHL begins this season in the Czech Republic. The first two games of the year will be played in Prague, as the league gives the European fans a chance to experience the NHL in person.
Both the Predators and Sharks previously played games in Europe. Nashville played an exhibition match on Monday in Switzerland against the National League's SC Bern, the hometown team of captain Roman Josi. Meanwhile, the Sharks were in Germany on Tuesday, taking on Eisbaren Berlin of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga in a friendly match.
It will be the first set of games in the Global Series, as the Blue Jackets and Avalanche will head to Finland at the beginning of November to square off against one another.
