The Ottawa Senators selected defenceman Jacob Bernard-Docker 26th overall in the 2018 NHL Draft.
Bernard-Docker tallied 41 points in 49 games with Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, last season. He is commited to play at the University of North Dakota in 2018-19.
Ottawa's decision to pick Bernard-Docker in the first round left many fans shocked. TSN's Bob McKenzie listed Bernard-Docker as the 46th ranked player and the 18th ranked defenceman in the 2018 draft class.

The newest Senator made it clear, projections aside, winning is his priority.
"I'm a guy that's willing to do anything to win," Bernard-Docker told TSN 1200. "I'm a pretty versatile guy. I can play power play, penalty kill and I can be put in a lot of different situations,"

Bernard-Docker is the second player Ottawa picked on Friday night. The Senators took forward Brady Tkachuk with the fourth pick as general manager Pierre Dorion continues to rebuild the organization.
Ottawa was originally set to make the pick at No. 22. The Senators exchanged the spot with the New York Rangers, as Ottawa grabbed the 26th pick as well as a second-round selection.
"I think I still have a lot of development left to do," Bernard-Docker honestly admitted. "I definitely think it's a step in the right direction, getting drafted, but that doesn't guarentee me anything. I know I need to continue to work hard and develop my game.
