This week is chock full of events on the NHL calendar, and first up was the 2023 NHL Awards.

The finalists had been known for a while now, however, the recipients of the major awards in the league were revealed Monday night in Nashville.

Some of the game's biggest names were nominated, including Connor McDavid, Erik Karlsson, David Pastrnak, Cale Makar, Matthew Tkachuk and Adam Fox. But who ended up taking home the honors?

The Sporting News has the results from the 2023 NHL Awards.

Here are the winners for the honors that will be handed out at the awards show, along with the full voting results and point system.

Hart Memorial Trophy

The finalists for the Hart Trophy were announced on Friday, May 12. The award goes to the player deemed "most valuable" to his team. 

This is McDavid's third Hart Trophy, previously winning in 2022 and 2017.

Vezina Trophy

The finalists for the Vezina Trophy were announced on Thursday, May 11. The award goes to the league's best goaltender of the season. 

It is the first time in Ullmark's NHL career he received the Vezina Trophy.

Ted Lindsay Award

The finalists for the Ted Lindsay Award were announced on Wednesday, May 10. The award, named after Hall of Famer Ted Lindsay (formerly the Lester B. Pearson Award), is given annually to the NHL's most outstanding player as voted on by his peers.

It was McDavid's fourth Ted Lindsay win. He previously won the honor in 2017, 2018 and 2022. 

James Norris Memorial Trophy

The finalists for the Norris Trophy were announced on Thursday, May 4. The award goes to the league's best defenseman of the season. 

This was the third time in Erik Karlsson's career he took home the Norris, previously winning in 2012 and 2015.

Frank J. Selke Trophy

The finalists for the Selke Trophy were announced on Tuesday, May 2. The award is given to the "forward who demonstrates the most skill in the defensive component of the game."

It is Patrice Bergeron's second consecutive Selke win and the sixth in his career Selke, the most out of any player in league history.

The finalists for the Lady Byng Trophy were announced on Tuesday, May 2. This award goes to the "player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability."

For the second time in his career, Anze Kopitar earned the honor, previously winning in 2016.

Jack Adams Award

It is Montgomery's first time honored as coach of the year.

Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy

The finalists for the Bill Masterton Trophy were announced on Tuesday, May 9. The award honors the player who "best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.

Letang persevered through a stroke, the second one in his player career, during the 2022-23 season, as well as dealing with the death of his father within a span of four weeks during the season. 

King Clancy Memorial Trophy

The King Clancy Memorial Trophy is a "sports award given annually to the National Hockey League player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and who has made a significant humanitarian contribution to his community."

Backlund supports the ALS Society of Alberta, is an ambassador for both Kids Cancer Care and Special Olympics Calgary, and also has partnered with Parachutes for Pets to create Lily’s Legacy, a program set up that allows children in foster care to keep their pets while they are transitioning into care.

Mark Messier Leadership Award

Winner

The Mark Messier Leadership Award "recognizes an individual as a superior leader within their sport, and as a contributing member of society."

E.J. McGuire Award of Excellence

Winner

  • Connor Bedard, C, Regina Pats

The award is handed out to an NHL draft prospect "who best exemplifies commitment to excellence through strength of character, competitiveness, and athleticism."

Willie O'Ree Community Hero Award

Winners

Willie O'Ree Community Hero Award is "given to someone who has positively impacted their community, culture, or society through hockey." It is named after Willie O'Ree, the first black player to play in the NHL. 

When are the 2023 NHL Awards?

  • Time: 8 p.m. ET | 7 p.m. CT

The 2023 NHL Awards show is scheduled to take place on Monday, June 26 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. 

The festivities start at 8 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. local time in Nashville. It is expected to run for two hours.
