Including the NHL Stadium Series, Chicago has participated in five outdoor regular season contests. The Blackhawks have lost all three Winter Classic games they have played in, including a 4-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues in the most recent installment on Jan. 2. Chicago's lone outdoor win came in March 2014 at Soldier Field, when the Blackhawks defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-1.
Boston has played in the annual Winter Classic twice. The Bruins have a 1-1 record in outdoor games, with their most recent contest resulting in a 5-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens in 2016.
