Paul Byron nets two goals, assist in Canadiens win over Penguins image

Less than two weeks ago Paul Byron signed a contract extension with the Montreal Canadiens, and it looks like the team is happy he'll be a Canadien for four more years.

On Saturday, the foerward netted two goals in the organization's 5-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. It was his first multi-goal game since Dec. 2, 2017 when he had a hat trick against the Red Wings.

The first goal was scored after Byron put on a burst of speed past Penguins defenseman Olli Maatta at the blueline and deked around netminder Matt Murray. In the second period, a wide-open Byron is robbed by Murray but then bats the Max Domi pass in for his second of the game.

Later in the period, he assisted on the shorthanded goal of Joel Armia - his first with the club.

Byron finished the 2017-18 season with 20 goals and 15 assists in 82 games. Two seasons ago he had a career-high in goals (22) and assists (21).
