As Zdeno Chara skated in his 1,500th career NHL game on Tuesday, the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins put aside their rivalry — for the time being.

The Habs congratulated the Bruins' captain on his latest milestone with a tribute on the big screen at Bell Centre, earning him a roaring ovation from Montreal's crowd.

It's a classy gesture from the Canadiens organization, as they were able to put any history between these teams aside to honor the 42-year-old defenseman.

With 1,500 games under his belt, Chara has played the sixth-most games by a defenseman in league history and is the leading active defenseman in games played.

In 14 games this season, the 6-9, 250-pound blueliner has two goals and five points, as well as a plus/minus rating of plus-13.
