The 2023 NCAA hockey national champion is going to be decided tonight, as Minnesota and Quinnipiac meet in the Frozen Four title game.
The Golden Gophers are looking to add a sixth NCAA title to its storied program history. Minnesota has not won the national championship since going back-to-back in 2002 and 2003.
Meanwhile, the Bobcats have never won a Frozen Four championship. In 2013, Quinnipiac lost to Yale in the title game and then suffered the same fate in 2016 against North Dakota.
Minnesota punched its ticket to the national championship with a 6-2 win over Boston University in its semifinal game on Thursday. Golden Gophers defenseman Luke Mittelstadt scored two goals in under two minutes in the third period to break a 2-2 tie, leading to the eventual win.
Quinnipiac defeated Michigan in its semifinal game by a score of 5-2. Bobcats forward Jacob Quillan recorded two goals to get the program to its third national title game in 10 years.
