Mark Borowiecki injury update: Predators defenseman discharged from hospital with 'no major injuries' after being stretchered off ice vs. Flyers image

A scary moment occurred Saturday night at Bridgestone Arena as Predators defenseman Mark Borowiecki was stretchered off the ice in the contest vs. the Flyers. He was brought to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center immediately for testing.

The 33-year-old was discharged from the medical center on Sunday afternoon with "no major injuries." However, his return to play is unknown at this point.

In the second period, Borowiecki collided behind the Flyers net with Morgan Frost, hitting the ice and appearing motionless for a few minutes.

The training staff eventually was able to lift him onto a stretcher and get him off the ice.

The Nashville defenseman is in his third season with the organization. He has appeared in four of the Predators' seven games so far this season. He has yet to record a point, however he does have two fights already on the season, including a first-period battle with Nic Deslauriers on Saturday.

What is Borowiecki's injury?

The latest update from the team said he had "no major injuries" but he is going to continue to be tested as he rests and recovers at home.

How was Borowiecki injured?

Borowiecki was in on the forecheck retrieving a puck while Frost was trailing behind him. As Borowiecki reached to push the puck along, Frost pinched him off and hit in the back of the shoulders/neck area.

Borowiecki hit the ice and did not move. Players gathered around him as Bridgestone Arena fell to silence.

Frost was not called for a penalty on the play.

How long is Borowiecki out for?

Borowiecki's timeline for a return is unknown as of now.

The defenseman has dealt with concussions in the past, resulting in a toll being taken on his mental health as well.
