Golden Knights staffers were in area of New York terror attack, report says image

Members of the Vegas Golden Knights’ staff witnessed part of Tuesday's deadly terror attack in New York, TSN.ca's Darren Dreger reported Wednesday for NBC Sports Network.

Dreger's report wasn't clear about how much of the attack the staffers witnessed. The Golden Knights, who faced the Rangers on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden, were staying in a hotel near Battery Park in lower Manhattan, near the site of the attack.

Eight people were killed and more than a dozen others injured when a man drove a truck down a bike path lane.

Vegas was delayed in leaving the hotel, arriving at the Garden 75 minutes prior to the opening faceoff, the New York Daily News reported.

The Rangers observed a moment of silence before the game to honor the victims of the attack.

Rangers center Mika Zibanejad, who tallied the game-winning goal and two assists in New York's 6-4 comeback victory Tuesday, said the game was emotional for everyone involved.

“It’s a horrible, horrible thing,” Zibanejad told reporters, according to Newsday. “We were trying to play for the whole city and for all the families involved. We talked about that. It was bigger than the two points today.”
