Local kids celebrate Tim Stützle's first hat trick by throwing hats onto Senator rookie's deck image

Senators rookie sensation Tim Stützle on Saturday scored the first hat trick of his NHL career in Ottawa's 4-2 win over the Jets in Winnipeg.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions in Canada, fans were not allowed in the building — meaning no one could throw their hats onto the ice to commemorate the moment.

Fear not: He still got some hats.

Local kids in Ottawa decided Stützle should still get a chance to experience the hockey tradition, throwing their hats onto the deck of his house.

Here's a quick recap of his three goals from Saturday:

In his first NHL season, the 19-year-old who was drafted third overall in October has scored 12 goals and 17 assists in 52 games. He'll have a chance to add to that total in the team's final game of the season on Wednesday when they host the Maple Leafs.
