Jonathan Quick is hoping to win ring No. 3, and he might do so without playing a single minute this postseason.

The longtime veteran is with the Golden Knights in the 2023 Stanley Cup Final, facing the Panthers with a chance to give Vegas its first-ever NHL championship.

The 37-year-old was acquired at the trade deadline by the Golden Knights to provide goaltending insurance for a playoff run. Quick was originally dealt from the Kings to the Blue Jackets in a surprising move, but was then flipped to Vegas from Columbus

Quick made nine starts and 10 appearances for Vegas during the regular season. He went 5-2-2 with a 3.13 GAA and a .901 SV% while recording a single shutout.

Despite an impressive resume that boasts two Stanley Cups and a Conn Smythe, Vegas head coach Bruce Cassidy has yet to call upon Quick in this postseason.

The Sporting News explains Quick's absence from the Golden Knights' lineup.

Why is Jonathan Quick not playing for the Golden Knights?

Quick is currently serving as the backup to Adin Hill in the 2023 playoffs.

When the playoffs started, Quick was Vegas' third option in net. Laurent Brossoit was the starter while Hill was suiting up on the bench as his backup. Quick was up in the press box as teams cannot dress more than two goalies a game.

Once Brossoit went down with an injury in the second round, Hill took over as the starter and Quick was bumped up to be his backup.

With Hill dominating so far in the 2023 postseason, Quick hasn't seen any playing time during these playoffs.

Jonathan Quick career playoff stats

Quick is no longer the dominant goaltender that helped the Kings' dynasty to two Stanley Cup wins in 2012 and 2014. But in his prime, he was an integral part for Los Angeles securing those two championships.

He was in the playoffs seven times in a span of nine years from 2010 to 2018, but did not see any postseason action again until last season.
