The Jets put the Western Conference on notice Tuesday night, handing the Golden Knights a 5-1 loss in Game 1 to grab an early series lead in their first-round matchup.

Winnipeg received two goals from forward Adam Lowry and goaltender Connor Hellebuyck made 16 saves to grab the victory at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It was one of the best collective efforts from the team in recent weeks.

"Tonight was clearly the best game we’ve played against them for the full 60 minutes," Jets head coach Rick Bowness said. "I found tonight we did a good job of when we bent a little bit, we didn’t break."

Jets forward Morgan Barron may have gone pointless in the contest, but he was the main talking point after Game 1. The Winnipeg skater was cut in the face by a skate blade, received 75 stitches and returned to the action.

Heading into Game 2, Vegas is aiming to grab a win to even up the series before it shifts to Winnipeg later in the week for Games 3 and 4. Winnipeg is looking to continue to play spoiler and take a 2-0 series lead back home.
