IIHF World Championship 2019: Tyson Jost, Pierre-Luc Dubois added to Canada roster image

Help is on the way.

Hours after dropping its first game of the 2019 IIHF World Championship, Canada announced that forwards Tyson Jost and Pierre-Luc Dubois have been added to the roster. The move comes a day after center John Tavares left team training camp with an oblique injury, which was later confirmed to be severe enough to keep the Maple Leafs star from participating in the tournament.

Tavares had been skating on the first line for head coach Alain Vigneault, who shifted Dylan Strome into that spot for Friday's 3-1 loss to Finland in the tournament opener. With Tavares' absence, Canada was in need of more center depth, which Jost and Dubois provide.

With the Columbus Blue Jackets, 20-year-old Dubois racked up 61 points (27 goals, 34 assists) in 82 games during the 2018-19 regular season. He added two goals and five assists in 10 playoff games and could provide Vigneault with some scoring relief.

Jost just completed his season with the Colorado Avalanche, posting three goals and an assist in 12 playoffs games. During the regular season, the 21-year-old registered 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists) in 70 games.

Both Jost and Dubois were part of the Canada team that finished fourth in last year's world championship.
