Deryk Engelland is staying in Las Vegas.
On Tuesday, the Golden Knights announced the re-signing of the 37-year-old defenseman to a one-year contract. Engelland played the past two seasons in Las Vegas, and will return to the team with a $700,000 base salary that could rise to $1.5 million with incentives.
Engelland says he turned down other, more lucrative, offers from elsewhere to remain in Nevada.
"It's not always about more money. I don't want to play anywhere else," Engelland told VegasGoldenKnights.com. "There are other things that factor in at this stage and this is the best situation for me and my family. This is where I want to be."

A native of Edmonton, Alta., Engelland played five seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins before moving to the Calgary Flames in 2014-15. He spent three seasons in southern Alberta before being selected by the Golden Knights in the 2017 expansion draft.
In his first year in Las Vegas, Engelland put up career highs in assists (18) and points (23), and helped the team advance to the Stanley Cup Final in its inaugural season. His offensive numbers dropped last season, but his impact on the defensive side of the game was better than ever, racking up career bests in blocked shots (152), hits (165) and takeaways (26).
Despite his continued impact, the team wasn't able to match the postseason high it reached in its maiden campaign. It's one of the factors that motivated him to return, Engelland said.
"I'm excited to come back," he said. "We've got a bad taste in our mouths after the way last season ended and we have some unfinished business."
A fan favorite in Las Vegas, Engelland lives in the tourist hotspot year-round with his family. The 10-season NHL veteran made headlines with his impassioned speech following the Oct. 1, 2017, mass shooting in Las Vegas.
Engelland was awarded the Mark Messier Leadership Award in 2018. He also received the Vegas Strong Service Award after each of the past two seasons, and started the Vegas Born Heroes Foundation with his wife Melissa as a way to give back to the community.
