Former NHL forward P.A. Parenteau started the next phase of his playing career Tuesday, and made quite the first impression in his KHL debut.
Parenteau not only scored a goal for Avtomobilist in his first game with the club after signing a KHL contract two weeks ago, it was the game-winner in a 4-2 victory over Torpedo. The goal came at 3:58 of the third period, snapping a 2-2 tie.

The 34-year-old Parenteau logged nearly 17 minutes of ice time, recorded two shots on goal and finished with a +2 plus/minus mark.

Two-time Stanley Cup winner Dwight King, who spent part of his NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens just like Parenteau, also scored for Avtomobilist. It was King's second goal on the season.
Parenteau split last season with the Devils and Predators, totaling 28 points in 67 games. He appeared in five post-season contests with the Predators on their run to the Stanley Cup Final.
A free agent this past summer, Parenteau attended training camp with the Red Wings on a PTO. He was not signed by the club after picking up an assist and recording 12 shots on goal in four preseason games.
Over his eight-year NHL career, Parenteau appeared in 491 games and scored 114 goals. He played for eight teams, including the Canadiens and Maple Leafs. Just two seasons ago he netted 20 goals for the Leafs, one of two 20-goal seasons in his career.
