It's been a rough fall for the Edmonton Oilers — but one wouldn't have known watching them on Tuesday night.

The Oilers dominated the Blue Jackets in Columbus, knocking off the Metropolitan Division's top team 7-2 behind four points from 20-year-old Connor McDavid.

Zack Kassian got things started for the Oilers in the first period, scoring nearly six minutes into the game.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored just more than six minutes into the second period to give them a 2-0 lead. Then, McDavid assisted on back-to-back goals from Matt Benning and Milan Lucic.

Mark Letestu scored at the very end of the period to to give Edmonton the 5-0 lead.

While Columbus knocked in its first two goals, it wasn't enough to muster a comeback. Jesse Puljujarvi found the back of the net with six minutes left in the game, and then McDavid scored a goal of his own with less than three minutes remaining in the third, catching a pass from Puljujarvi.

The Oilers, who are second-to-last in the Pacific Division, have now won five of their last eight games.
