The top Canadian Hockey League prospects get a chance to showcase their skills, as the 2023 CHL/NHL Top Prospect Game is set for tonight. 

There will be 40 of the top 2023 draft-eligible players from Canadian major juniors in British Columbia for the event. 

Connor Bedard is the headliner. The captain of the Regina Pats is the consensus No. 1 pick in the 2023 draft at this point. After lighting up the 2023 World Juniors with Canada, Bedard has continued on with his sensational WHL season, leading the league in goals, assists and points. 

In addition to Bedard, Brayden Yager, Colby Barlow, Lukas Dragicevic and Zach Benson are some of the top players participating in the showcase.

What is the CHL/NHL Top Prospect Game?

The CHL/NHL Top Prospect Game is an annual event featuring 40 of the top prospects from the three Canadian major junior leagues that are eligible for the upcoming draft. This year features candidates from the OHL, QMJHL and WHL that are available to be selected in the 2023 NHL Draft. 

The first game was in 1996 and has been played every year, with the exception of 2021 due to COVID-19. Current NHL stars like Nathan MacKinnon, Connor McDavid, Steven Stamkos and John Tavares all previously skated in the event.

When is the 2023 CHL/NHL Top Prospect Game?

  • Date: Wednesday, Jan. 25
  • Time: 10 p.m. ET | 7 p.m. PT

This year's 2023 CHL/NHL Top Prospect Game is taking place on Wednesday, Jan. 25. 

Puck drop is set for 10 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. local time in British Columbia. 

Where is the 2023 CHL/NHL Top Prospect Game?

The 2023 CHL/NHL Top Prospect Game is set to be played at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.

It is the home of the Vancouver Giants of the WHL and the former home of the BCHL's Langley Rivermen.
