The Washington Capitals have scored 21 goals so far this season.
11 of those goals have come from the stick of Evgeny Kuznetsov.
During the first period of Washington's Saturday night matchup, the 25-year-old connected with forward Jakub Vrana to give the Capitals a 1-0 lead over the Philadelphia Flyers. Kuznetsov received a feed in front and passed the puck in the direction of Vrana, who banked in the shot for his second goal in as many games, and Kuznetsov's league-leading 11th assist.
Kuznetsov's 11 assists are the most by a player through a team's first six games since San Jose's Joe Thornton did it in 2012-13, according to StatsCentre. The Capitals have three players atop of the scoring chart: Kuznetsov, Alex Ovechkin — with his nine goals — and forward Nicklas Backstrom.
