Canadiens acquire forward Nate Thompson from Kings image

The Montreal Canadiens added some depth on Monday, acquiring center Nate Thompson and a 2019 fifth-round pick from the Los Angeles Kings for a 2019 fourth-round pick.

Thompson has four goals and two assists in 53 games this season while winning more than 50 percent of his faceoffs taken.

A native of Alaska, Thompson was traded to the Kings almost a year ago to the day by Ottawa with Dion Phaneuf for Nick Shore and Marian Gaborik. 

Over the course of 672 NHL games with six teams, including 305 with Tampa Bay, he has 57 goals and 77 assists with a career average of 52.6 percent of faceoffs won. Expected to be the fourth-line center, Thompson brings over 12 years of experience along with 18 points in 62 playoff games.
