Jake Allen led the St. Louis Blues to a 5-2 win over the Calgary Flames on Wednesday, but not even his stellar play could distract from his second period mishap.
As Flames forward Mikael Backlund dumped the puck behind the Blues net, Allen went to corral the puck. Instead of easily clearing the puck out of the zone, Allen tripped and allowed Matthew Tkachuk to feed Backlund for the wide-open goal.

The goal gave Calgary a glimmer of hope at a comeback as the Flames ended the second period one goal shy of the Blues but that was the closest that the game would be. St. Louis scored two goals in the third period to extend its lead over Calgary with Allen regrouping from the play. Allen stopped 20 of 22 shots he faced, even if he was technically never in the net to stop the second goal.
