Flames' Jankowski scores first career goal in most unconventional way image

Calgary's Mark Jankowski's first NHL goal wasn't a fancy shot. It wasn't a game-winning goal.

In fact, Jankowski didn't even use his stick to score his memorable tally.

During the first period of the Flames' matchup with the Detroit Red Wings, Jankowski dropped the puck over to forward Jaromir Jagr hoping to break the tie. Jagr placed a shot on net but Red Wings goaltender Petr Mrazek made the initial save.

Jankowski continued his way towards Mrazek, who couldn't corral the puck. With a bit of help from the hockey gods, the Providence College product redirected the puck, off of his thigh, past Mrazek to give Calgary a 1-0 lead.

Calgary defeated the Red Wings, 6-3, but it was the 23-year-old's unconventional goal that helped highlight the Flames night.
