Buffalo Sabres rookie forward Victor Olofsson set an NHL record Monday in his team's 4-0 win over the Dallas Stars.

The 24-year-old scored a power-play goal in the second period, assisted by a pass from defenseman Rasmus Dahlin. The tally was Olofsson's fifth goal of the season and the seventh of his young career. All of those goals came with a man advantage, making him the first player to score their first seven goals in that manner.

Olofsson's power-play scoring streak dates back to last season when he logged two goals and two assists in a six-game stint with the Sabres at the end of their campaign.

He added a primary assist on Buffalo's second goal Monday as well when he sent a backhand pass across the ice to Sam Reinhart for a one-timer to light the lamp.

Olofsson's breakout start to the 2019-20 season has him leading all rookies in scoring with seven points. His budding prowess as a power-play specialist is helping the team — the Sabres lead the league in power play scoring (42.9 percent) through its first six games.
