Bruins vs. Blues results: Boston forces Game 7 with comprehensive victory in St. Louis image

It's down to one game.

Facing elimination in a hostile venue, the Boston Bruins put forth a professional performance to claim a 5-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues in Game 6 of the 2019 Stanley Cup Final on Sunday.

It wasn't easy, though. The Bruins grabbed an early lead through Brad Marchand and then held on as the Blues poured on the offense in an attempt to equalize. Boston netminder Tukkaa Rask stood tall as he turned aside a barrage of shots in the second period, keeping his team in the lead until the Bruins could open the floodgates in a decisive third period.

With a tenuous one-goal lead to start the final frame, the Bruins netted four times to quiet the crowd and take away any hope of the Blues capturing the Cup on home ice. By the time St. Louis finally got a puck past Rask, the game was already virtually over as Boston used experience and opportunism to overcome a motivated Blues team that wanted nothing more to end the series at home.

Sporting News tracked live scoring updates and highlights from Sunday's game. Here's how it all played out:

Bruins 5, Blues 1: Updates, highlights from Game 6 of the 2019 Stanley Cup Final

First period

20:00 - Here we go. St. Louis is pumped up as the game is underway.

17:18 - PENALTY - Kuraly flips the puck over the glass from the Bruins zone and the Blues get the night's first power play.

15:51 - The Blues have gotten off some nice shots during this PP, but Rask has been equal to the task.

15:18 - Kuraly is back on the ice and it's 5-on-5 again.

12:43 - PENALTY - Boston heads to the power play after Schenn crushes Nordstrom into the boards and is called for, unsurprisingly, boarding.

11:41 - PENALTY - O'Reilly puts the puck out of play from within the Blues' zone. It's be 5-on-3 hockey for Boston.

11:20 - 🚨 GOAL 🚨 That didn't take very long, as Marchand wires a one-timer past Binnington. It's still a Bruins PP for 1:39. Bruins 1, Blues 0.

9:41 - We're back to even strength but the energy in the building has died down after that opener.

6:00 - The Blues have had a sustained run of pressure here, but the Bruins are doing well to get bodies in front of the net and not allow any real good scoring chances.

1:40 - PENALTY - Blues are going on the power play after Chara clears out O'Reilly from the goalmouth and is called for interference.

0:00 - The period comes to an end. St. Louis will have 21 seconds of power play to start the second.

Second period

20:00 - And we're back.

19:40 - Chara steps back onto the ice to make it 5-on-5 hockey again.

15:41 - A stretch pass sends Heinen in alone on Binnington, but a timely pokecheck by Pietrangelo stops the shot attempt as Heinan was rounding the goalie.

11:12 - An icing call leads to a big scuffle after Krug lays a late hit. No penalties to either side.

10:49 - PENALTY - Now there is a call as Marchand takes out Pietrangelo's leg for some reason.

10:02 - GOAL... or not. The puck looks like it's in the net but SOMEHOW Rask and McAvoy keep it out. How??

8:49 - The penalty's over without a goal, but it's not for a lack of trying from the Blues.

6:17 - PENALTY - Another St. Louis power play coming up after McAvoy trips Tarasenko at the Boston blue line.

4:17 - We're back to even strength. That was a less eventful power play by the Blues than the last one, but the end result was the same.

0:00 - The horn sounds, and we finish the second period with no goals in the frame.

Third period

20:00 - Period No. 3 coming up.

17:29 - 🚨 GOAL🚨 A great start to the period by the Blues is nullified after a bouncing shot gets through Binnington to give Boston the two-goal lead. Bruins 2, Blues 0.

12:09 - Rask is still unbeatable so far tonight. Blues are starting to throw the kitchen sink at him.

9:45 - 🚨 GOAL 🚨 It's falling apart for the Blues now, as Kuhlman goes top corner and gives Boston a three-goal lead. Bruins 3, Blues 0.

7:59 - 🚨 GOAL 🚨 The Blues finally beat Rask as O'Reilly corrals a bouncing puck before firing a shot that was NEARLY saved by Rask. A video review was needed to confirm that it crossed the line. Game on. Bruins 3, Blues 1.

5:54 - 🚨 GOAL 🚨 That's gotta be the dagger. The Blues turn the puck over and Pastrnak rounds Binnington and roofs it. Bruins 4, Blues 1.

4:10 - Blues pull the goalie and get the extra attacker on the ice.

2:19 - 🚨 GOAL 🚨 Chara flips the puck from deep inside his own zone and hits the center of the empty net. That was impressive accuracy from the big man. Bruins 5, Blues 1.

0:21 - PENALTY - Blais to the box after a scuffle.

0:17 - PENALTY - Bortuzzo is sent packing after a late hit and now it's a 5-on-3 to end the game.

0:00 - We're going to Game 7.
