What would a hat trick in the 2017-18 season be without a dash of goaltender interference tossed in the mix?
En route to recording his first career hat trick in Winnipeg's 5-4 shootout victory over Boston Tuesday, Brandon Tanev's first goal of the night fell into the mysterious trap of goalie interference. That is, before the goal was upheld.
The closest official appeared to wave it as no goal initially, but the call was overruled by the official outside the zone. Boston challenged, but the review was inconclusive and Tanev tallied his first of three on the night.

The 26-year-old's second goal came just 16 seconds into the second period, giving the Jets a one-goal edge.

Joe Morrow pushed Winnipeg's lead to 3-1 later and the Jets went into the final frame with a two-goal lead. After the Bruins began the third with two unanswered goals, Tanev finished off the hatty with a shorthanded goal.

Tanev went into Tuesday's game with just four goals on the season, a number that he nearly doubled by the end of the night.
A Torey Krug goal forced extra time, which stretched into a shootout that Patrik Laine ended with a game-winning goal.

Since it was scored in shootout, the goal doesn't count toward Laine's total on the season. With 43 goals, Laine remains two tallies behind Alex Ovechkin in the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy race.
The win secured Winnipeg's first ever six-game homestand sweep in franchise history. The Jets hit the road for the next four games, beginning in Chicago and then heading up to Eastern Canada.
