The NHL announced Tuesday (April 7) that a third Colorado Avalanche player has tested positive for COVID-19. The team previously announced that players had tested positive on March 26 and March 28.
In a statement, the league said, "The Colorado Avalanche were advised this morning that a third player had tested positive for COVID-19. The player is in self-isolation and has not had close contact with any other Avalanche players or staff members."
Tuesday's announcement raises the NHL's total reported number of positive player tests to eight.
The Ottawa Senators announced on March 17 and March 21 that unnamed players had tested positive. On April 1, they added that four additional members of the organization had tested positive. TSN's Frank Seravalli reported three of the four members who tested positive were players.
