What are Alex Ovechkin's playoff stats? A breakdown of the postseason numbers for the Capitals captain image

For the longest time, Alex Ovechkin was considered to be one of the best players in the NHL. Yet, playoff success always seemed to elude Ovechkin and the Capitals, making some question just how great the Great 8 was.

Well that chatter was shut down in 2018, when the Capitals captain helped Washington to its first Stanley Cup win, taking down the Golden Knights in five games.

Ovechkin put up 27 points in 24 games en route to a ring and a Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP.

While the postseason victories haven't been consistently there for Ovechkin in his career, all it takes is one and he's got it. The Capitals have another shot this season as the team is set to compete in the 2022 playoffs.

The health of Ovi is a concern, as he hurt his shoulder in the final week of the regular season and his status entering the playoffs is unknown. If the Capitals are without their dominant winger, they are in for a tough battle ahead.

Where does Ovechkin rank all-time in postseason points, goals and assists?

On the all-time list for points and assists, Ovechkin is well outside the top 10.

In his career, Ovechkin has 135 postseason points, which ranks 39th on the all-time list. His 64 assists are ranked 92nd, as he just got into the top 100 last season.

However, on the all-time playoff goals lists, Ovechkin's 71 tallies are tied for 16th with Bryan Trottier. He needs eight more to crack the top 10, as jean Beliveau sits at No. 10 with 79.
