Carolina Hurricanes' rookie winger Andrei Svechnikov learned that the hard way in Game 3 of the team's first-round series against the Washington Capitals on Monday night.

The 195 pound Svechnikov squared up with 235 pound Alex Ovechkin and the 14-year veteran put the rook on his back. Svechnikov was tended to by a team doctor on the ice for several minutes before being helped to the locker room. He, along with forward Michael Ferland, was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Ovechkin received a five-minute major penalty for fighting, the first of his career in the postseason. The fight was his first since Dec. 12, 2010, when he dropped the gloves with then-New York Rangers center Brandon Dubinsky.
