Lightning forward Alex Killorn was suspended for one game by the NHL on Thursday for boarding the Islanders' Brock Nelson in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals.
Killorn will sit out Game 3 of the series Friday in Edmonton.
The league's Department of Player Safety said in announcing the suspension that Killorn's check in the first period Wednesday night was "a forceful hit from behind on a defenseless player who was no longer in possession of the puck."
Killorn was assessed a major and a game misconduct by referee Kelly Sutherland. Tampa Bay killed off the ensuing five-minute power play and went on to win the game 2-1. It leads the best-of-seven series two games to none.

Killorn may not be the only Tampa Bay forward to miss Game 3. Brayden Point, the team's No. 1 center, left Game 2 in the second period with an apparent injury. Lightning coach Jon Cooper told reporters that he would have more information on Point's status Friday morning.
