And then there was one. This week represents the halfway point of the XFL's comeback season and only one undefeated team remains. The XFL North Division-leading D.C. Defenders bring their 4-0 record into action, as they travel to St. Louis for a date with the second place Battlehawks.
The Roughnecks and Sea Dragons already kicked off Week 5 in style -- with Seattle handing Houston their first loss on Thursday night. Out of the remaining slate of games, the matchup between D.C. and St. Louis looks like it should be the best, especially in the packed house the Battlehawks were introduced to last week.
There continues to be two teams -- Guardians and Vipers -- in search of their first victory. Thanks to some snazzy scheduling, one of them will emerge victorious, no matter how long it takes since XFL games cannot end in a tie.

Defenders vs. Battlehawks
The St. Louis faithful were treated to a Battlehawks victory in the first home game of the season. Over 38,000 fans showed up to see the 24-11 victory for the home side, led by quarterback A.J. McCarron's two touchdown performance. St. Louis carries a 3-1 record into this game against the 4-0 Defenders, setting up a matchup between the first and second place teams in the north division.
D.C. continued to rely on a strong running game in Week 4, leading the time of possession battle and the one on the scoreboard at the end of the night, winning 32-18.
Guardians vs. Vipers
Saturday's late game will see the battle of the winless. Unlike the undefeated Defenders, these two teams are quite defeated through four weeks, which isn't how they envisioned the year going. It's rather fitting that the game is being played at Cashman Field in Las Vegas, which has earned the reputation for being the league's ugliest venue.
Can Paxton Lynch finally get his Guardians into the win column or will it be Luis Perez claiming victory for the Vipers? The bright side is that someone will finally starting to climb out of the league's basement.
Renegades vs. Brahmas
The Houston Roughnecks seem to have a strong hold on first place in the XFL South Division, but that doesn't mean teams can't vie for a chance to be the runner-up. That's exactly what the Renegades and Brahmas will be doing at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The Renegades have alternated wins and losses through the first four weeks, leading them to a 2-2 record as the league's definition of average.
On the Brahmas side of things, they have dropped each of the last two games -- only putting up 19 points through the losing streak. Statistically speaking, these are the two lowest scoring teams in the league which could create a low-scoring defensive battle without much action -- which might not be the worst thing in the world for a late game on a Sunday night.
