Xavier Worthy blazed the fastest time of the 2024 NFL Combine on his first run Saturday. The mark of 4.25 was 0.03 seconds better than that of Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins.
That wasn't enough for Worthy. The Texas wide receiver decided to run the 40-yard dash again, and it proved to be well worth his effort.
Worthy posted an unofficial time of 4.22 seconds on his second attempt. That would tie the all-time combine record set by John Ross in 2017.
But Worthy did even better than that. The official time came in at 4.21, a hundredth of a second faster than Ross. That set a new NFL Combine record for the 40-yard dash.

Worthy celebrated his record-breaking run by turning his 40-yard dash into an exultant sprint around the stadium. He chest-bumped some of his fellow combine participants on the sideline at Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis as the spectators at the event cheered him on.
News of Worthy's run quickly circulated through the NFL community, and players watching the combine quickly weighed in with their thoughts about his incredible feat.
Notably, Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill expressed his thoughts about Worthy's "crazy" speed. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes also had praise for the prospect.

NFL talent evaluators share these sentiments about Worthy's otherworldly workout. Case in point: NFL Network's Rich Eisen revealed that Rams general manager Les Snead texted him and said Worthy was the fastest prospect Snead had ever evaluated.
That should help Worthy as he tries to establish himself as a first-round value in the 2024 NFL Draft.
