NFL suspends Malik McDowell after he was caught on tape wrestling cop, report says image

The saga of former second-round selection Malik McDowell took another turn Tuesday as video was released of his February altercation with police in Michigan.

TMZ obtained dashboard and surveillance footage that showed the 6-6 defensive tackle tussle with an officer after he was pulled over for speeding.

The NFL later suspended McDowell for the first two games of the season, according to an NFL Network report.

McDowell repeatedly asked to speak with the officer’s supervisor before going inside a gas station where the two knocked over several shelves. McDowell eventually sat on the floor but refused to get on his stomach. The officer then tased McDowell, who ripped out the prongs and wrestled with the officer before backup arrived to handcuff McDowell.

One officer claimed McDowell reached for their gun before he was subdued.

McDowell is facing two counts of felony assaulting and resisting, one misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated and misdemeanor driving on a suspended license.

McDowell was selected in the second round (35th overall) of the 2017 draft by the Seahawks, but never played a down after he sustained injuries in an ATV accident before training camp in 2017.

The Seahawks released McDowell in March and have since sued him as he hasn't followed through on repaying the team $799,238 in forfeited signing bonus money.

McDowell visited the Cowboys this offseason but remains a free agent.
